Terry Griffith, a confident high-school senior who dreams of becoming a journalist, believes she’s being overlooked simply because she’s a girl. When her attempt to secure a summer internship fails, she takes a bold step: with the help of her younger brother Buddy and best friend Denise, she re-enrolls at a rival school disguised as a guy named “Terry.” As she navigates locker-room banter, jocks, and undercover male identity, she befriends the shy Rick, helps him out of his shell—and unexpectedly falls for him. But keeping her secret becomes harder than she imagined, and by prom night, Terry must decide if proving her point means embracing who she truly is.
